The Civil War Headquarters, also known as General Lee's Headquarters Museum, visitors can explore the Confederate side of the war in the house that the general himself lived in during the summer of 1863 when the Battle of Gettysburg was fought. Artifacts from the war, including the actual uniform worn by Captain Theodore Howell and rifles used during the conflict. A gift shop also carries an assortment of Civil War memorabilia, including money and bullets, that can be purchased and kept as a reminder of the battle and the visit to this historic town. Sitting just west of town and abutting the Gettysburg National Military Park lands, the museum is close to other Civil War sites including the John Burns Memorial and Soldiers National Cemetery.
