General Lee's Headquarters resides in an old stone house, where the famous officer holed up during the Battle of Gettysburg. Visitors can tour the restored building, viewing its exhibits and learning about its close proximity to the Confederate line, and its thick walls which afforded the General much-needed protection from artillery shells. The museum lies in the downtown area, on the east side of Gettysburg National Military Park.
